Fantasy Formula One 1999

Price List is here
You are a Grand Prix manager with a budget of £40million. Your task is to buy five elements for your Formula One outfit - three drivers, a chassis and an engine. From the shopping list you can select any three drivers, with a proviso that one falls in the £1million price bracket. Points are awarded for performance of each element of your team during the game, ending when the competition closes with the results of the Japanese Grand Prix on 31st October 1999. You must not exceed your budget of £40million, select the same driver twice or fail to pick one driver costing £1million. Your third driver will only be awarded points if either your main drivers do not take any part of the race weekend, which includes Thursday and Friday practice sessions. Points are awarded as follows:

• Drivers score one point for each place they make up over their qualifying position. Points are not deducted for losing places relative to their grid position.
• Five points are lost if your driver posts the race's first retirement, four if it's the second and so on down to a one point loss for the fifth retirement. Should more than one car retire at the same time, the position will be taken on the order of the cars' number. Cars 8 and 9 retire at the same time car 8 gets deducted 5 points car 9 is deducted 4 points.
• Points are deducted for the first five cars to retire on the same basis as for drivers. However, if both cars from one team are among the first five to retire, the points deducted will only be for the first example to retire.
• Drivers disqualified or removed from the results for any reason lose all points gained for that weekend and will be classed as a Non Qualifier and Non Race Finisher.
• Drivers not competing in any part of the race weekend, including Thursday and Friday practice sessions, will not be awarded or deducted any points.
